APEDF has three very successful and popular Uhuru Furniture & Collectibles stores that make excellent quality used furniture accessible and affordable for all.
Uhuru Furniture allows for broad support of APEDF programs by picking up donations of furniture, vehicles, computers, and household items. Everyone can shop, donate, and volunteer.

Donations
- We accept donations of furniture, collectibles, appliances, household items, pianos, artwork and running vehicles that are in sellable condition.
- We pick up donations... FAST!
- Donations are tax-deductible.
- Donating to Uhuru Furniture is fast and easy. When you call our store to make a donation, we will ask questions about the items that you wish to donate to determine if we are able to pick them up. This way we eliminate any surprises.
- We schedule you a ONE-HOUR time slot for pick up. No long waits for you!
- A professional team will arrive at your home and move your donations from where they stand. You don't have to move the items outside. We will itemize your donation and leave you with a signed, tax deductible donation receipt. Call us today! We appreciate your donations.
Volunteer Opportunities
We need you! At Uhuru Furniture & Collectibles, volunteers are the backbone of our team. Some of the volunteer activities include:
- Sales assistance: helping customers, shelf display, unpacking new collectibles, store set up and merchandising.
- Community outreach: postering businesses and college campuses, visiting estate sales, distributing business cards and door hangers, making phone calls for donations.
- Computer positions: producing mailings, data entry, posting ads on the internet, creating new flyers, brochures and posters, producing and sending media.
- Newsletter positions: writing articles, layout work and working with photographs, research.
- There are group activities, or volunteer on your own.
- Complete your community service hours with us.
- Learn new skills. Meet new people.
